Poets Entries are currently being accepted for the May Sarton New Hampshire Book Prize. A prize of $1,000, publication by Bauhan Publishing, and 100 author copies is given annually for a poetry collection. Jennifer Militello will judge. Submit a manuscript of 50 to 80 pages. Learn more.

Short Fiction Entries are currently being accepted for the $15,000 Drue Heinz Literature Prize as well as publication by University of Pittsburgh Press for a collection of short fiction. Writers who have published at least one previous book of fiction or a minimum of three short stories or novellas in nationally distributed magazines or literary journals are eligible. Submit a manuscript of 150 to 300 pages between May 1 and June 30. There is no entry fee. Learn more.

Playwrights The Yale Drama Series is seeking submissions for its 2018 playwriting competition. The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Ayad Akhtar. The winner of this annual competition will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of his/her manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater. The prize and publication are contingent on the playwright’s agreeing to the terms of the publishing agreement. No no entry fee. Learn more.

Alternative Process Photography Soho Photo Gallery is currently accepting entries for their 13th National Alternative Processes Competition. Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Photogravure Chemigram as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives. Traditional Silver Gelatin Prints, C-Prints and Digital Prints are not eligible. There is no limitation as to subject matter. All selected photographs will be exhibited at the gallery from October 4 to November 4, 2017. The gallery is New York City’s longest running co-operative photography gallery. Learn more.

Quiltmakers The Firelands Association for the Visual Arts in Ohio is currently accepting entries for their exhibition The Artist as Quiltmaker. It is the second-longest-running art quilt exhibition in the world. FAVA deliberately chooses not to define ‘quilt,’thereby encouraging both established and emerging artists to submit innovative artwork, pushing boundaries and challenging expectations, whether they use traditional or non-traditional techniques or materials.
