Brief Choreography in Small Spaces The Dance Complex has issued a request for proposals for Tiny & Short: A Drop In The Bucket. The project invites choreographers and performers alike to investigate the constrictions of space and time as a means to expand choreographic structures and movement invention, and ultimately how they communicate with audiences. Ten Tiny Dances® will showcase dances under 5 minutes in length, taking place solely on a 4X4ft stage; and Short Works will feature performances less than 3 minutes in length taking place throughout Studio 7 – in corners, in front of windows, and on stairs – and varying in genre and medium. Call to Artists Mythologies and folklores tend to be rooted in specific geographies. Nature Meets Narrative, the call for entries for this year’s Art Ramble, asks artists to respond to the Concord Town Forest with work that either draws on or inspires fictional or factual narratives related to these Concord woods. Hyde Square Artist Residencies Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF) is establishing three artist residencies and has announced a call for proposals for the first residency, in connection with Latino Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15). Artists are encouraged to propose a project focused on Afro-Latin art, culture, tradition, and/or history. The project should involve a public event, workshop, or a series of workshops that include strong audience or participant involvement and is linked directly to the themes of Latino Heritage Month. Artists can seek compensation of up to $6,500. Applicants should send a project proposal that includes 1. Description of the project including how the project relates to Latino Heritage Month (1-2 pages); 2. Project timeline; 3. Project budget, including a supply budget (Hyde Square Task Force will provide up to $500 for supplies); 4. Sketches, photos or other visual representations of the proposed project if relevant; 5. Artist statement; 6. Current resume; and 7. Examples of previous work (please do not submit more than 15 photos and limit videos to less than five minutes) to Sarah Brugge at sarah@hydesquare.org.

Call to Artists BVAA opens a call for art for its Show of Hands Show. This is a community event for painters in the area to share their creativity in all media and all skill levels. This is their second such show, last year’s event brought in entries from Worcester and beyond. It was an eclectic mix of various media with some great talent exhibited. It will be juried for cash prizes. Their gallery is located at 5 S. Main St. in Uxbridge. Learn more.
