Residency for Writers The Millay Colony offers two- and four-week residencies from April through November to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers at Steepletop, the former estate of Edna St. Vincent Millay in Austerlitz, New York. Each residency, awarded by an anonymous jury process, includes a private room, studio, and meals. For residencies from August through November, using the online application system submit up to 10 poems totaling no more than 15 pages or up to 30 pages of prose, along with a brief bio, a personal statement. Artist Residency The Galveston Artist Residency is pleased to announce an Open Call for applications for the 2018 – 2019 Residency Year. We will be awarding 3 residency grants for the time period of September 1, 2018 through August 1, 2019. Residencies are for the full 11 months. GAR is a fully funded residency. Artists in residence will receive a studio, an apartment, a monthly stipend of $1,000 per month and a $500 travel stipend to be received upon arrival. Learn more.

Funding for Traditional Arts Apprenticeships Apprenticeships are a time-honored method by which an individual learns skills, techniques, and artistry under the guidance of a recognized master. Since its founding in 2001, the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program has funded over 100 artists in a vast array of traditions, both old and new to Massachusetts. Applications are now available. Recent apprenticeships funded by Mass Cultural Council’s Folk Arts and Heritage Program include mentorships in Cape Breton step dancing, design and building of wooden ship’s steering wheels, Cambodian traditional ornamentation, wooden boatbuilding and restoration, West African dance, Scottish & Cape Breton fiddling, and Mithila and Warli arts. Film/Video The AT&T Film Awards is an open competition seeking imaginative, undiscovered short films from aspiring creators who want their voices heard. We are supporting and rewarding excellence in filmmaking with $60,000 in cash prizes, exposure, and a chance to take home the coveted AT&T Film Awards trophy during the finals at Warner Bros. Studios on June 2, 2018. For the 4th Edition of the competition, we’re placing the spotlight on aspiring and underrepresented storytellers, and creators utilizing innovative filmmaking techniques such as 360 Cinematic Video, films shot on mobile, and CGI/Animated shorts. Call for Art The Southborough Open Land Foundation invites artists and creative community members to submit proposals of site-specific artwork for the 2018 Art on the Trails outdoor exhibition, Unexpected Gestures. The exhibition, juried by Jean Mineo, former Director of Boston Sculpture Gallery, will be installed in the Beals Preserve, Southborough, Massachusetts from June 13 – September 23, 2018.
