Call to Artists The Arlington Human Rights Commission seeks an artist/designer or team to create new work – or adapt existing work – for light pole banners celebrating Black History Month, February 2021. Six designs are needed to make 12 new banners which will be hung along Massachusetts Avenue in East Arlington for the month of February. Their goal is to commission a Black artist to share their perspective on the historical and/or ongoing struggle for equity, inclusion and racial justice. Only Massachusetts residents are eligible. Selection will be made by a subcommittee of the Arlington Human Rights Commission. Artist fee: $1200. Learn more.

Chapbooks The Frost Place Annual Chapbook Competition sponsored by Bull City Press is currently accepting submissions. Tiana Clark will judge. The selected winner’s chapbook will be published by Bull City Press. The winner will also receive 10 complimentary copies, a $250 prize, and a full scholarship to attend the Poetry Seminar as well as an optional writing retreat at Frost Place. Learn more.

Artist Residency I-Park, East Haddam, CT, will be hosting its signature Site-Responsive Art Residency & Biennale in 2021. The residency runs from August 20 to September 20, 2021 and culminates in a public opening of the Biennale on September 18, 2021. An artist’s stipend of $3,500 plus travel reimbursement will be paid for each of the 6-7 invited projects. Learn more.

New England Nonfiction Filmmakers LEF New England is now accepting submissions for $15,000 “Production” and $25,000 “Post-Production” Moving Image Fund grants from New England-based filmmakers making feature-length (40+ minute) non-fiction film projects. Learn more. Also, Boston-area finalists for LEF Moving Image Fund production and post-production grants will be eligible to apply for the Harvard Film Study Center – LEF Foundation Fellowship, which offers access to the Film Study Center’s pool of production and post-production equipment, the opportunity to participate in the Harvard FSC community through work-in-progress screenings, workshops, and other activities, and a $10,000 grant over the course of the 2021-2022 academic year. Individual Support Grant The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant. The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant program annually awards $25,000 to 12 visual artists who have been in a mature phase of their art for at least 20 years and who have demonstrated financial need.
