Arts for Health Grant The Cambridge Public Health Department, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), has released a call for proposals for a grant opportunity: Arts for Health. Through this grant, which is supported by funding from the Cambridge Arts Council, a small number of artists will receive funding to design creative, safe, accessible, and culturally inclusive projects that engage Cambridge residents around one or more of the City’s Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) priority areas: 1) community and social resilience; 2) healthy eating and active living; and 3) mental health. These projects should emphasize cross-cutting themes of health equity and ending racism. Learn more.

Puerto Rican Writers The Letras Boricuas Fellowship is a partnership between The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and The Flamboyan Foundation’s Arts Fund Andrew Mellon and the Flamboyan Foundation Art Fund to support writers and poets in Puerto Rico and across the Puerto Rican diaspora in the US. The program offers a $25,000 unrestricted grant to emerging and established Puerto Rican writers of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and children’s literature. Learn more.

Female Filmmakers The Chicken and Egg Accelerator Lab is focused on identifying and supporting women nonfiction directors working on their first or second feature-length documentary, with a special focus on underrepresented voices. The year-long program includes $40,000 in grant funding for film production, mentorship, creative retreats and professional development, industry meetings and funder connections, and peer support. Artist Residency Join fellow creatives from across the Commonwealth for a fully funded, 4-week residency at the Studios at MASS MoCA. Playwrights The Yale Drama Series is seeking submissions for its 2022 playwriting competition. The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Paula Vogel. The winner of this annual competition will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of his/her manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater.
