The Schweizer Foundation for Art and Innovation (SFAI) is a private nonprofit organization aimed at supporting artists and thinkers (without limitation regarding origin, ethnicity, gender, race, etc.) through residencies and grants. Music Drives Us Foundation (MDU) will grant 50 recipients a $200 performance grant to support the presentation of their event – which has to be music-focused, of course – during ArtWeek.
Creative Residency Studio@550 in Cambridge is accepting applications for its Creative Residency 2020. 550’s Creative Residency is a three-month award of space, resources, and guidance at the Studio. The aim of the Creative Residency is to support working artists with the resources they need to develop their work further. Video Art, Short Films HOT STEAM III is having an open call for video art and short films that explore the magic combination of science, art, and technology. HOT STEAM is an annual screening organized by Cambridge Community Television that takes place in Cambridge, Massachusetts during the Cambridge Science Festival. This year the screening will be held on April 23, 2020 at the MIT Museum. The goal of this event is to bring scientists and artists together to explore the intersection of art and tech in an accessible and exciting way (meaning videos should appeal to a wide audience – children and adults alike). We are looking for films/videos that are short, interesting, strange and bizarre. Interpretation of the theme can be very loose. The curators for HOT STEAM III are Keaton Fox (Boston Cyberarts + Cambridge Community Television), Caroline Castro (Frost Science Museum), and Isabella Achenbach (Cranbrook Art Museum). Artist Residency Students are invited to apply for a summer internship with the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center, West Rutland, Vermont, during the 2020 workshop season. Studio interns become part of our dynamic arts education community and enhance their learning experience. Interns benefit from interactions with instructors and participants in up to 30 workshop sessions, as well as diverse Artists in Residence from around the world. Call to Artists Emerging artists living and working in New England, New York, and New Jersey are invited to submit their work for consideration for The Real Art Awards at Real Art Ways. Jurors will consider the quality of the artist’s work, the innovation evidenced by submitted work, the potential impact of the exhibition on the artist’s career and the economic and physical feasibility of the exhibition. Artists should submit work made within the last 3 years. Artists working in all media are welcome. In addition to a $2,500 prize, six artists will receive a solo exhibit at Real Art Ways in 2020 or 2021, an exhibition publication with essay, curatorial assistance, and the opportunity for an artist talk.
