Webinars with Arts Administrators Arts Administration Association New England is holding a series of “Sip and Chat” webinars with arts administrators from the region. The next discussion is October 1, 2020, 4 PM, featuring Christine McCarthy Chief Executive Officer, Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM); Andrea P. Rosen, Curator, Fleming Museum of Art University of Vermont; and Cornell W. Coley, performing artist, art educator, therapeutic healing drummer.
Call for Writing/Dance Evolve Dynamicz, a Boston based dance collective, has issued a call for writing and dance submissions to be part of Lucidity Evolved, a dance film that aims to end stigma around mental health by fostering empathy and community. Artists are encouraged to share their experiences of COVID-19 through writing and/or dance. The film will be projected onto The Dance Complex building in Central Square this fall so that it can be viewed in a safe and socially distant manner. All ages, races, abilities, nationalities, creeds, sexual orientations, sexes, genders, and gender expressions are encouraged to participate. Learn more.

Of Note: The Boston Foundation’s Live Arts Boston Program (LAB) presents an online forum: Creativity, Entrepreneurship & Equity in the Performing Arts. The forum will feature a presentation by Barbara Schaffer Bacon and Pam Korza of Animating Democracy (a program of Americans for the Arts), authors of a report looking at the impact of LAB over its first three years. It will also feature panel discussion with LAB grantees Ana Masacote, Billy Dean Thomas and Karen Young, and a performance by LAB grantee Naseem Alatrash. Grants for Community-Based Projects The Mass Cultural Council‘s Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences annually. Each year, LCCs award more than $3 million in grants to more than 6,000 cultural programs statewide. The program promotes the availability of rich cultural experiences for every Massachusetts residents. Applications will be available October 1st. Mass Cultural Council funds and manages a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils across the state, representing every city and town in the Commonwealth. Each council awards money based on individual community cultural needs, assessed and set by council members. Learn more.

Performing Artists The New England States Touring (NEST) funds the presentation of regional, national and international artists presented by New England-based nonprofit organizations. Due to NEFA’s focus on response to the sector during the COVID-19 crisis, the previously announced NEST deadlines in August and December have shifted to one NEST deadline for projects occurring after February 1, 2021.
