Last week, the Massachusetts Center for the Book announced the selections of the 20th Annual Massachusetts Book Awards. The Awards recognize achievement in five categories of literature written by current residents of the Commonwealth.
Congratulations to all of the awardees and honorees. In particular, we are pleased that the list includes several past Mass Cultural Council awardees:
- Raul Gonzalez III (Painting Fellow ’16) has received the Picture Book/Early Reader Award for ¡Vamos! Let’s Go to the Market (Versify)
- Karen Skolfield (Poetry Fellow ’14) has received the Poetry Award for The Battle Dress (Norton)
- Grace Talusan (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’02) has received the Nonfiction Award for The Body Papers (Restless Books)
- Oliver de la Paz‘s (Poetry Fellow ’20) The Boy in the Labyrinth (U of Akron Press) has been named a Poetry Honor book
A number of Mass Cultural Council Fellows and Finalists are also among the “Must Reads” selections. See the full list of awards and honors.
The Massachusetts Center for the Book will promote the included titles in a virtual capacity this Fall.
