Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowships: Crafts, Sculpture/Installation/New Genres, Dramatic Writing The Fellowships are direct grants to artists creating exceptional original work. The Artist Fellowships are $15,000 and the Finalist awards are $1,000 (amounts pending approval by the governor-appointed Council). Artist Residency The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation Artist in Residency Program supports emerging and mid-career artists and curators working across all disciplines through three and six-month residencies. The program is open to both International and US-Based artists, creating a shared space for artistic dialogue and international cultural exchange for an extended period of time. NARS offers 24/7 access to furnished, private or shared studio spaces (250 – 300 sq ft) in their diverse artist community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. As a studio based residency, the focus is on the artistic process and the experimentation that results from working alongside other artists, within New York’s cultural and sociopolitical context. Call to Artists The United States Mint announced a call for artists to participate in its Artistic Infusion Program (AIP). Established in 2003, the AIP serves to enrich and invigorate the design of United States coins and medals by developing a pool of outside artists in graphic design, sculpture, engraving, drawing, painting, and other visual arts. These artists work closely with the United States Mint’s staff, including Sculptor-Engravers, to create and submit new designs for selected coin and medal programs throughout the year. Interested artists are invited to submit applications for consideration. Artists who join the AIP work under a task order contract from their own studios across America, providing candidate designs in the form of finished drawings. Artists are paid $2,000 to $3,000 per assignment and are awarded a $5,000 bonus if the Secretary of the Treasury selects their design for a coin or medal. Learn more.

Scholarship for Writers GrubStreet is offering numerous partial, need-based scholarships for Muse and the Marketplace (April 5-7th, 2019), its annual three-day conference on the craft and business of writing. There is no fee to apply for scholarships for general audiences, for writers doing great work in the literary community, and for writers from historically marginalized backgrounds. Nearly all scholarships are awarded in quantities of $250, to be used towards Muse 2019 registration. Learn more.

Artist Grants Applications are now being accepted for the Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation Grants. Individual Support grants available to painters, printmakers and sculptors with a minimum of 20 years in a mature phase; grant amounts are determined each year. Last year this program awarded 12 grants of $25,000 each. A separate grant program, for emergencies, assists mature painters, printmakers and sculptors suffering from a recent, unforeseen catastrophic event (fire, flood, medical emergency), who have a minimum of ten years in a mature phase; grant amounts range up to $15,000 depending on the need and circumstances of the individual applicant.
