Children’s Writers/Illustrator Entries are being accepted for the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation Award for New Children’s Writers. The awards are designed to recognize and encourage authors and illustrators starting out in the field of children’s books who share Ezra Jack Keats’ commitment to children and diversity. Poets The Center for Book Arts invites submissions to its annual Poetry Chapbook Program.The manuscript selected by the Center for Book Arts for its annual Poetry Chapbook Program will be awarded with the publication of a beautifully designed, letterpress-printed, limited-edition chapbook. Artist Residency The Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in Clermont, KY offers an Artist in Residence Program which is awarded on an annual basis to visual artists of any medium who are selected to create works within the forest and/or arboretum and are inspired by and potentially installed in the natural world. This program enhances the visitor experience through interaction with art and artists, while fulfilling Bernheim’s mission of connecting people to nature. Bernheim provides living quarters, an honorarium and studio space in exchange for a site-specific sculpture, project or art work. Learn more.

Photographers The Cultural Center of Cape Cod invites photographers worldwide to submit images to their online competition, The Golden Hours. All winners will be displayed in their online gallery.First Place $500, Second Place $200 and Third Place $100. The Cultural Center directors will jury. If there’s one thing that can make or break a photograph more than any other, it’s lighting. In photography, the golden hour is the period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight has a soft diffused glow. It’s warm, dimensional, and just flat-out magical, and we can see why photographers swear by it. Any and all methods of capture and process are welcome. Learn more.
