Artist in Residence The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), based in Boston, is seeking applications for its Artist in Residence (AIR) Program. The AIR will serve an 18-month term extending from summer 2018 until fall 2019. The AIR will have the opportunity to develop and implement projects that creatively advance MAPC’s planning and community development work in Metro Boston. The selection committee for the residency includes MAPC staff as well as Charlie Tracy of the National Park Service, Kate Gilbert of Now + There, and Leonie Bradbury of HUBweek. Learn more.

Artist-Organized Residencies Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, Maine is encouraging artists to propose residencies for the center’s summer sessions as part of the Artists Invite Artists (AIA) Proposals. Artists propose a theme related to clay then recruit four to either other artists to join them in the residency. Once in residence, artists work side-by-side in the Watershed studios. Learn more.

Short Fiction Entries are currently being accepted for the $15,000 Drue Heinz Literature Prize as well as publication by University of Pittsburgh Press for a collection of short fiction. Writers who have published at least one previous book of fiction or a minimum of three short stories or novellas in nationally distributed magazines or literary journals are eligible. Submit a manuscript of 150 to 300 pages between May 1 and June 30. There is no entry fee. Learn more.

Studios at MASS MoCA Hosted by MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program, selected artists receive private studio space on MASS MoCA’s campus in North Adams. The Studios include newly renovated housing, free access to the museum’s galleries throughout the residency, optional financial and business coaching from Assets for Artists staff, and free use of Makers’ Mill, a printmaking and fiber arts makerspace located a short walk from the Studios.
