Call for Art The Springfield Central Cultural District is currently accepting applications for Peep This: Art in Springfield Storefronts. This opportunity allows artists to showcase work in vacant storefronts. This project is designed to reactivate vacant store windows by filling them with artwork and art installations in order to brighten the downtown area, increase foot traffic, and showcase local artists. They seek proposals from visual artists to submit existing works, or proposals for temporary installations to fill empty storefronts. Photographers The Yeiser Art Center is now accepting submissions for its annual international juried photo exhibition Art Through the Lens formerly known as Paducah Photo. This year’s juror is Sarah Sudhoff, executive director at the Houston Center for Photography. Artists may submit up to 4 photographic images. $2,000 in cash awards will be given. Artist Residency Artists in all media are invited to apply for the 2015 White Mountain National Forest (WMNF) Artist-in-Residence program, a collaboration between the WMNF and the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire. Public Art in Boston The Mayor’s Office of Arts + Culture announced a new Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to create a permanent public art installation inclusive of landscape improvements on the grounds of the historic Mather School in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood. Artists, designers or teams comprised of an artist and a landscape architect are invited to forward qualifications for this exciting public art and improvement project. Writers Residency Program Applications are now being accepted for the Write A House writer’s residency program. The Detroit writers and urban activists who founded the organization in 2012 did so with this goal: To use vocational training to renovate longtime vacant homes and then give away these homes to published, low- or moderate-income writers.
