Meg Alexander, Rebecca Doughty, Warner Friedman, Raul Gonzalez, Catherine McCarthy, Janice Redman, Shelley Reed, Dawn Southworth, and Randal Thurston are all exhibiting in Paperworks at Clark Gallery in Lincoln (thru 10/7).
Cynthia Consentino, Sally Curcio, and Sandra Matthews are in the group show of self-portraiture, Self Indulgence, at Hampden Gallery (9/10-9/29, reception 9/10, 2-4 PM).
Congratulations to Yorgos Efthymiadis and Kevin Frances, both of whom were among this year’s St. Botolph Foundation Emerging Artist Awards.
Samantha Fields and Sue Murad co-created the short film Meditations on the Tide, which was selected for the Krafta Doc film festival in Scotland. The artists are fundraising so they can travel to the screening.
Joel Janowitz and Anne Lilly are exhibiting in Water + Color at the Clarky University Schiltkamp Gallery (9/18-11/9, opening reception 10/3, 5-6:30 PM).
Masako Kamiya, Shelley Reed, Tara Sellios, and Bill Thompson are all part of the exhibition We Dream / Beauty Beyond and Beneath at Suffolk University Gallery (9/7-10/27).

Liz Duffy Adams‘ play Or, is being produced by two Boston theater troupes, Maiden Phoenix Theatre Company and Simple Machine, at Chelsea Theatre Works (9/8-9/23).
Karl Baden is exhibiting in The Eclipse Show at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, OR. His work is also featured in the catalog for the show.
Steven Bogart‘s play-in-progress The Rehearsal will have a staged reading at the Actors Studio Newburyport (9/9, 10 AM), presented by North Shore Readers Theater Collaborative. As a director, he is part of a devised theater project called The Weird by four playwrights, Kirsten Greenidge, Obehi Janice, Lila Rose Kaplan, and John Kuntz, for Off the Grid Theatre Company (9/1-9/16). Linda Bond recently received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award and a Puffin Foundation Award. This month, she has a solo exhibition, After Effects: Beyond the Shadow of War in the Human Rights Institute Gallery at Kean University (9/5-12/20).
Cynthia Consentino has a solo exhibition of sculpture and drawings, called Topsy-Turvy, at UMass Amherst Herter Art Gallery (9/12-10/11, reception 9/12, 5:30-7:30 PM).
Michael Dowling co-wrote the feature film Brave New Jersey, which opened recently and screened at the Berkshire Museum’s Little Cinema in August.
Nicole Duennebier is exhibiting Temple of Flies, work created collaboratively with her sister Caitlin Duennebier, at the Montserrat College of Art Carol Schlosberg Alumni Gallery (9/18-10/16, artist presentation 9/28, 11:30 AM-12:20 PM, reception 9/28, 5-8 PM). She’s also in the group exhibition Room with a Thousand Doors at the online gallery WOW x WOW (9/1-9/22).
Laura Harrington has been getting great reviews for her new book A Catalog of Birds.
Michael Hoerman will read from his new chapbook, Disoriented Fascination, at Innisfree Poetry Bookstore & Cafe in Boulder (9/14).
Marky Kauffmann, who was recently selected as one of Photolucida’s Critical Mass Top 200 photographers, is exhibiting at the Nave Gallery as part of the Somerville Toy Camera Festival (9/9-9/24, opening reception 9/9 3-5 PM). She is also in the group exhibition The Visual Metric at Griffin Museum’s Lafayette City Center Gallery in Boston (thru 11/7).
Pagan Kennedy will discuss her book Inventology at Boston College (9/27, 7 PM).
Jesse Kreitzer will present excerpts from his in-progress film Caregivers as well as other work as part of Vermont Symphony Orchestra‘s Made in Vermont Statewide Tour (9/20-9/26).
Scott Listfield collaborated with Josie Morway to create a wall mural at Worcester Art Museum as part of POW! WOW! Worcester. This month, he’s got a solo exhibition at Rotofugi Gallery in Chicago (9/8-10/1).
Tara Masih is the Series Editor for the 2017 Best Small Fictions, published 9/5 by Braddock Avenue Books.
Rania Matar exhibits photography this month in Thrive at The Beehive in Boston (9/5-10/19, reception 9/13, 6:30-8:30 PM), as well as exhibitions in Paris and Washington DC. She’ll present the lecture Womanhood: From Personal to Universal (9/25, 6 PM) as part of the MIT – Women in Art + Architecture series, and she’ll lead The Portrait and Identity Workshop at Filter Photo Festival in Chicago (9/22, 9 AM-4 PM).
Adam Mazo was selected to pitch his film Dawnland at the Independent Filmmaker Project’s Spotlight on Documentaries (9/17-9/21).
Rachel Mello‘s cut silhouette art is exhibiting at Forge Bakery in Somerville (reception 9/13, 6-7 PM).
Nathalie Miebach has a solo show, Strange Weather, at the Aurora University Schingoethe Center (9/28-12/13, opening reception, 9/28 5 PM). There will be a performance of Nathalie’s “Weather Scores” at Aurora University’s Tapper Recital Hall (10/12, 7 PM, performed Picoca Ensemble. Also, Nathalie’s work is in the group show weatherwise/otherwise at the Agnes Scott College Dalton Gallery in Decatur, Georgia (9/14-12/9).
Cecelia Raker starts an MFA program at the Michener Center for Writers at UT Austin this fall.
Daniel Ranalli exhibits at Cape Cod Community College Higgins Gallery in Unexpected Change (thru 10/2).
Janet Rickus has a solo show at the Gallery Henoch in New York City (9/7-9/30). See the exhibition catalog.
Anna V.Q. Ross joins Porsha Olayiwola, and Jarita Davis to read at Boylston Plaza as part of Mass Poetry’s reading series at The Prudential Center in Boston (9/5, 5 PM).
Tara Sellios is among the artists in Spark at Worcester Center for Crafts Krikorian Gallery (thru 9/16).
Tracy Heather Strain directed Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart, a documentary film about Lorraine Hansberry, and it has its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (9/7-9/17). The film is expected to have its broadcast debut in February 2018 on the PBS series American Masters.
Mara Superior currently has new work showing at Ferrin Gallery.
Grace Talusan has been named the winner of the 2017 Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing for her to-be-published book The Body Papers.
Elizabeth Whyte Schulze is exhibiting in Cut the Edge, Weave the Line, a group exhibition exploring traditional techniques and materials combined with contemporary technology (9/8-10/20), at Mobilia Gallery. She’s also exhibiting in All Things Considered 9: Basketry in the 21st Century at the Peters Valley School of Craft in New Jersey (9/16-10/29).
