John Cameron and Timothy Coleman will both have work in the New Hampshire Furniture Masters Main Event and Live Auction at 3S ArtSpace in Portsmouth, NH (10/1).
Christopher Castellani, Regie Gibson, Raul Gonzalez, Laura Harrington, Noy Holland, Rachel Kadish, Henriette Lazaridis, Brendan Mathews, Tova Mirvis, and Grace Talusan are among the literary artists taking part in the Boston Book Festival 10/28.
Caleb Cole, Steve Locke, David Prifti, and Ann Strassman are exhibiting in the group exhibition People Watching at Fitchburg Art Museum (thru 1/14).
Sean Downey, Nona Hershey, Joel Janowitz, and Cristi Rinklin are all exhibiting in Space as Narrative at Concord Center for the Visual Arts (10/19-4/26, reception 10/19, 6-8 PM). Joel Janowitz also curates.
Yorgos Efthymiadis, Marky Kauffmann, and Rachel Loischild are all participating in events and exhibitions for Flashpoint, a photography festival in Boston (10/6-10/22).
Joel Janowitz and Anne Lilly are both exhibiting in Water + Color at the Clark University Schiltkamp Gallery (thru 11/9, reception and artist talk 10/3).
Colleen Kiely and Shelley Reed are both in the exhibition Touchstones, Totems, Talismans – Animals in Contemporary Art at Brattleboro Museum (10/13-2/11).
Rania Matar and Evelyn Rydz are both exhibiting in the group show Thrive, at The Beehive in Boston (thru 10/18).

Sachiko Akiyama has a solo exhibition, Long Hand Poem, at the Brandeis University Women’s Studies Research Center Research, Art, and Activism (thru 10/27), with a number of related events.
Ria Brodell recently had paintings from her Butch Heroes series acquired by the Davis Museum.
Aya Yamasaki Brown and Jason Brown, otherwise known as Opertura, have an exhibit called Little Movement at the Stoneleigh-Burnham School’s Geissler Gallery in Greenfield (10/6-11/8, artist talk 10/5 7 PM, opening reception 10/6 5:30-7 PM).
Sean Downey has a solo exhibition of paintings, Wholly Idle, at Steven Zevitas Gallery (thru 10/28).
Rosalyn Driscoll has a solo exhibition, Night Mind, at Boston Sculptors Gallery (10/4-11/5, reception 10/6, 5-8 PM, artist talks 10/13, 5:30 PM and 10/26, 5:30 PM).
Maya Erdelyi is the Fall Visual Arts Resident at the Boston Center for the Arts (thru 12/22).
Samantha Fields has a solo exhibition, Miss. Ms. Mrs. at the Gordon College Barrington Art Center (10/28-12/12, reception 10/28, 4-6 PM).
Dana Filibert exhibits in Monster Arts Project III at Eastworks in Easthampton (thru 11/5).
Christy Georg will be a Visiting Assistant Professor at Maine College of Art Academic Year 2017-2018. She is in the group exhibition Roswell Artist-in-Residence 50th Anniversary Exhibition at the Roswell Museum and Art Center (10/6-4/6).
Basia Goszczynska is exhibiting as part of Nuit Blanche at OCAD University in Toronto (10/1-10/2). She’s in the exhibition Bannock, Mille-Feuille and Berries, at the Graduate Gallery.
Laura Harrington will discuss her new novel A Catalog of Birds at Porter Square Books (10/2, 7 PM).
Michael Hoerman debuts his Candy Wrapper Press, public art featuring site-specific folkloric poems that explore culture and environment with call and response, at First Thursday Fayetteville (10/5, 5-7 PM).
Marky Kauffmann has work in the group exhibition The Visual Metric at Griffin Museum’s Lafayette City Center Gallery in Boston (thru 11/7). She’s among the artists participating in the Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellows Exhibition at New Art Center in Newton (10/27-12/2). In November, the group exhibition Outspoken: Seven Women Photographers will open at Pine Manor College Hess Gallery.
Fred H.C. Liang is among the artists exhibiting in Chinese Dreams at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (thru 12/2).
Melinda Lopez will perform her one-woman play Mala at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis (thru 10/8).
Stephanie Lubkowski‘s composition Right now, in a second was performed by the bass clarinet and marimba duo Transient Canvas (who commissioned the work) at Boston Sculptors Gallery in September, as part of the Boston New Music Festival. Transient Canvas will perform the work at Western Connecticut State University in January and at The Record Company in Boston in June. Stephanie was recently the featured composer on the Original Gravity podcast.
Julie Mallozzi‘s new documentary Circle Up will screen at the Brattle Theatre as part of HUBWeek’s GlobeDocs Festival (10/14, 12 PM). The film recently won Best Documentary Feature at the Rhode Island International Film Festival.
Rania Matar has work in the traveling exhibition Aftermath: The Fallout of War – America and the Middle East, showing this month at The Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Florida (10/8-1/21). She’ll give an artist talk about the exhibition 12/2.
Jack Mauch was awarded the John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship by the Society of Arts and Crafts. This fall he will be a Studio Fellow at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, ME and is teaching a two-week workshop at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.

Caitlin McCarthy‘s screenplay Resistance, a WWII action thriller, is an official selection of the Oaxaca FilmFest, where it’s competing for several script competitions.
Nathalie Miebach exhibits in two group exhibitions: Drawn from a Score (10/7-2/3) at the University of CA-Irvine, and the Mass Cultural Council Fellows at New Art Center (10/27-12/2). She gives the keynote address at the Arts Educators of Iowa annual conference in Des Moines, Iowa (10/7). A concert of music written in relation to Nathalie’s work takes at Aurora University (10/12), featuring Picosa Ensemble.
Tova Mirvis will present her new memoir The Book of Separation at Brookline Booksmith (10/2, 7 PM). She’ll also participate in the Boston Book Festival (10/28).
Dahlia Nayar performs her collaborative work 2125 Stanley Street at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI (10/11, 8 PM), Ohio State University (10/21, 6 PM), Boston University (11/2, 7 PM and 11/3, 8 PM), and Bowdoin College in Maine (11/4, 7:30 PM). She’s currently in residence at Links Hall in Chicago and was recently commissioned by Alabama Dance Council to create a new work to premiere at Alabama’s Bicentennial Celebration in 2019.
Bob Oppenheim has a solo show of recent work, Splitz, at Howard Yezerski Gallery (10/13-11/14, reception 11/3, 5:30-8 PM).
Luke O’Sullivan has a solo show, Rise and Shine, at Paradigm Gallery in Philadelphia (thru 11/11). Read about the artist on Hi Fructose.
Monica Raymond wrote the book and lyrics for the short musical Gina and Christina (Anthony Uva, composer), which will receive a concert presentation at the Lincoln Center Performing Arts Library in New York City (10/23, 6 PM).
Susan Rivo‘s documentary Left on Pearl will screen as part of Provincetown Women’s Week (10/10, 6 PM and 10/11, 8:30 PM).
Nick Rodrigues is exhibiting in the group show Falling Days at Days Gallery in Los Angeles. (thru 12/22). He recently performed in the art event Town Hall in L.A., and this year, he joined the faculty in the Art and Technology program at California Institute of the Arts.
Tracy Heather Strain‘s recently premiered film Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart received a four star review in Huffington Post.
Naoe Suzuki has a solo show, Lost and Found, at Boston Arts Academy (thru 11/15).
Linda K. Wertheimer will talk about her book Faith Ed at the Harvard University Gutman Library (10/10, 12 PM).
Ellen Wetmore currently has a solo show at Arts Research Collaborative in Lowell and is exhibiting in the group show Charged: a NEON show at the Indianapolis Arts Center (thru 10/4). She will exhibit at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces New Mexico this winter and at the Fitchburg Art Museum fall 2018.
Congratulations to Kevin Young, whose forthcoming book Bunk is longlisted for the National Book Award in Nonfiction.
Michael Zelehoski exhibits in Washed Away at One Brooklyn Bridge Park (10/6-10/21).
