Fellows Notes is a monthly listing of the latest news from awardees in our Artist Fellowships Program.
Mary Kenny (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Finalist ’05) and Leslie Schomp (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’08) are both exhibiting in The Beast and Me at the Maud Morgan Arts Chandler Gallery (1/14-2/8, opening reception 1/24, 6-8 PM).

Denise Bergman (Poetry Finalist ’14) announced that Black Lawrence Press is publishing her new poetry book, Three Hands None, in March 2019.
Steven Cramer (Poetry Fellow ’14, ’83) joins Laurie Foos for a poetry reading at the Lesley University Marran Theater (1/4, 5 PM).
Danielle Legros Georges (Poetry Fellow ’14) joins Chris Lynch for a poetry reading at the Lesley University Marran Theater (1/7, 6:30 PM). She will also read at Boston Public Library (1/23, 6 PM), in one of her last appearances at the City of Boston Poet Laureate.
Basia Goszczynska (Film & Video Fellow ’13) has a solo show, Separation Anxiety, at Third Room Projects in Brooklyn (1/12-2/4, opening reception 1/12, 7-9 PM).
Dawn Kramer (Choreography Fellow ’12, ’86) will perform a new choreographic work, Secret Laughs (Rires Secrets), live and on video, joined by master improviser Olivier Besson, at The Dance Complex (1/12-1/26). The event is part of the CATALYSTS residency program.
Scott Listfield (Painting Finalist ’10) has a solo exhibition of new painting, Franchise Too, at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles (1/11-1/25, opening reception 1/11, 7-9 PM).
Jake Meginsky and Neil Young (Film & Video Fellows ’17) premiered their nonfiction film Milford Graves Full Mantis, and it will be featured in the inaugural film festival of the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture. It was a New York Times Critics Pick and received praise in Village Voice and Modern Drummer. It’s won awards at the In-Edit Festival (Barcelona), the Sarasota Film Festival, and the Oak Cliff Film Festival.
Rachel Mello (Painting Finalist ’10) is among the artists in Pushing Forward, exhibiting at Kingston Gallery in Boston (1/3-1/27, opening reception 1/4, 5-8 PM).
Mary O’Malley (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’06) is one of the three artists exhibiting in Winter Garden at 13Forest Gallery in Arlington (1/19-3/8, opening reception 1/19, 4-6 PM).
Monica Raymond (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’13) spent December at the Vermont Studio Center on a Swan Fellowship, for residents who are both writers and visual artists. There she worked on THEFTS AND GIFTS, poems inspired by the work of Boston photographer Fran Forman, her colleague at the Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center.
Congratulations to Evelyn Rydz (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’10), who received a 2018 Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant. Her work is included in Nine Moments for Now at the Harvard University Cooper Gallery of African and African American Art (thru 1/21).
Stephen Sheffield (Photography Finalist ’15) was recently featured in the Panopticon Gallery e-newsletter, highlighting his Art Every Day Project and his Everyman series.
Dariel Suarez (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Finalist ’18) has published a short story collection, A Kind of Solitude. He has reading events at Kickstand Cafe in Arlington (1/10, 7:30 PM), Books & Books in Coral Gables, FL (2/8, 6:30 PM), and Brookline Booksmith (2/21, 7 PM).
Suara Welitoff (Film & Video Finalist ’05) has a solo exhibition, Suara Welitoff: Right Now This Moment, at the Tufts University Grossman Gallery (1/23-4/7).
