Ceramic Artist Mudflat Pottery School is looking for an artist to design, create, and install a decorative ceramic tile frieze on the balcony facade of their studio building at 81 Broadway in Somerville. They invite artists who have experience designing and installing exterior ceramic tile works to submit ideas for this particular space, building and use. They are interested in designs that have strong graphic qualities that can be read from street level. Documentary Filmmakers The application is now open for the IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund, which provides production grants up to $100,000 for feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, contemporary stories told through a journalistic lens. In addition to funds, grantees will receive additional resources and expertise tailored to the journalistic needs of the project. Supported by the John D. and Catherine T. Artist in Residence for Writers, Composers, Visual Artists
The Zion National Park Artist in Residence program offers professional artists the opportunity to live and work in the majestic desert environment of southern Utah for a period of one month. Four artists will be selected for two spring and two fall residency slots. All visual (painters, photographers, sculptures, etc.), performing (drama, dance, music, composition, etc.) and literary artists are welcome to apply. The work completed under this program will contribute to the public understanding and appreciation of Zion National Park and should reflect the National Park Service’s mission to preserve and protect the park’s cultural and natural resources. Women Cinematographer Grant The Digital Bolex Grant for Women Cinematographers offers approximately $10,000 worth of gear and accessories loaned on a rolling basis to any narrative short, music video, or feature film project to be shot by a female cinematographer. Call to Artists As part of the Friends of the Roslindale Library race and inclusion programming, artists are invited to participate in a special exhibit at the Roslindale Library in October, 2017. The theme of the exhibit is “Getting to know you through our cultures.” The cultures of Roslindale come from all over the world. They seek art that gives a visual of some aspect of these cultures and heritage, whether landscape, food, people, transportation, etc. Email an image of your proposed art piece to janice@artfulgift.com (subject line: Roslindale Library Exhibit) along with the following information: your name, address, telephone, title of art, art medium, size of art piece, culture it represents and a paragraph about yourself and your culture.
The exhibit will run for a month at the Roslindale Library, 4246 Washington Street, Roslindale, MA. There will be an opening reception on 10/19 and an open house during Open Studios on 10/21. You will be notified when to drop off your art piece.
