African American Literary Awards The Black Caucus of the American Library Association’s Literary Awards offers four prizes of $500 each for a poetry collection, a first novel, a book of fiction, and a book of nonfiction (including creative nonfiction) by an African American writer and published in the United States during the current year. Letterpress Poetry Chapbook Competition The Center for Book Arts offers a prize of $500 and letterpress publication for a poetry chapbook. The winner also receives $500 for giving a reading at the Center for Book Arts in New York City and a one-week residency at the Winter Shakers Program at the Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, New York.
