Painters Site:Brooklyn is accepting entries for their international juries art exhibition, Painting in the 21st Century (September 21, 2018 – October 21, 2018). This is an open call to artists. This exhibition will reflect the ambitious, innovative and contemporary in painting today. The juror is Steven Henry Madoff, an art critic, curator, educator, and poet. Playwrights The Yale Drama Series is seeking submissions for its 2019 playwriting competition. The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Ayad Akhtar. The winner of this annual competition will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of his/her manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater. Video, Photography The Farhang Foundation in collaboration with local museums and galleries, presents FOCUS IRAN: Contemporary Photography and Video, a biennial juried exhibition of contemporary photography and video works relating to Iranian culture or heritage. Craft Artist The Greater Denton Arts Council in Denton, TX, is accepting entries for their 32nd annual Materials Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition. The call is open to craft artists who have created works in the past 2 years (2016-2018) in the following media: clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper, wood, or any combination of craft media. This year’s juror is Janet McCall of Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She will select about 70 pieces for the exhibition.
