Playwrights The deadline has been extended – and there’s a new opportunity – in Company One Theatre’s PlayLab. The PlayLab provides professional development for playwrights through a combination of personalized dramaturgy, group workshops, and professional development classes. Opportunities include a PlayLab Unit for early career playwrights; the PlayLab Fellows program for experienced playwrights; and (NEW) the PlayLab Pao Fellowship to support an experienced Boston-area playwright of Asian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander heritage. Public Art The Denver Arts & Venues Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original work of art for the future Freyer – Newman Center at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The facility is located near the main entrance to the Denver Botanic Gardens, at the corner of York St. and 11th Ave., Denver, CO. The selection panel has recommended a site-specific artwork to be integrated into the exterior plaza of the Freyer – Newman Center. The commission amount is $300,000. Learn more.

Call for Artists Kathryn Schultz Gallery located at 25R Lowell Street, Cambridge, MA, is accepting submissions for their Holiday Art Sale on December 6th. Cambridge Art Association Members can submit up to 3 artworks for free, and non-members can submit up to 3 artworks with a fee of $10. Call to Artists The Mosesian Center for the Arts invites artists to submit original work to the exhibition Perceptions of Self(ie). How has the digital age influenced how we capture images and likenesses of ourselves? Where do the similarities lie in how we depict ourselves through new media and how we present ourselves in our art? Artists are invited to submit original self portraits in any “traditional” medium (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, etc) for this unique exhibition. Artists will also be asked to supply a “selfie” along with their submission. These selfies will be incorporated into the exhibit, along with many other images captured and submitted through social media. Learn more.

Greater Boston Playwrights The Huntington Theatre Company is accepting applications for the Huntington Playwriting Fellows Program. The program provides a framework for an in-depth two-year artistic conversation and a long-term professional relationship. Meetings will be held bi-weekly. Call for Short Solo Movement Pieces Mobius has announced a call for 1 minute solo movement pieces. This will be an evening of 1 minute solo movement pieces performed at The Lilypad in Inman Sqare. The pieces will cycle over the length of the evening. “Movement” should be freely interpreted. The piece should be strictly one minute in length and should be a finished piece. Filmmakers Equinox Women’s Short Film Festival is a collection of films showcasing women. Equinox accepts short films and video in all genres: experimental, narrative, documentary, animation, and whatever else you can think of. They also accept pieces produced in any year. All submissions must be directed and or written by a women, preferably highlighting a woman’s story. All films must be under 40min in length. Equinox Women’s Short Film Festival is the first festival created in Alaska’s Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The 5th annual Equinox will take place in The Glenn Massay Theater, their state of the art theater. Learn more.
