Speak Your Mind The MCC is seeking public input for the development of a new strategic plan that will guide us for the next five years. To assist in this process, we are conducting two online surveys, one targeted to the interests of Massachusetts organizations and schools, and the other to individual artists. Poets Entries are currently being accepted for the North American Review’s James Hearst Poetry Prize. Winner receives a prize of $1,000 and publication in North American Review for a poem. Major Jackson will judge. Learn more.

Poets Entries are being accepted for the Academy of American Poets’ Walt Whitman Award which designates a prize of $5,000, publication by Graywolf Press, and a six-week residency at the Civitella Ranieri Center in Umbria, Italy. The award is given annually for a poetry collection by a poet who has not published a book of poems in a standard edition. Learn more.

Call for Artists The Somerville Local Arts Mall is a pop-up market that will feature the work of 23 local artists. Their goal is to create a space in vibrant Union Square to connect the fantastic population of creators with the fabulous population of creative consumers. The market will run for one month from November 20th to December 17th. Spaces available range in size and price. All purchases will be made through a centralized point-of-sale, and participating artists will share staffing responsibilities, so each artist staffs only 4 days for a month of 7-days-a-week shopping exposure. Call for Exhibition Proposals Proposals are now being sought for an exhibitions for Winter 2017 at Gallery 263 in Cambridge, MA. Their Curatorial Proposal Series provides the opportunity for artists of all media and experience levels to experiment with the organization and presentation of contemporary art, with guidance and support from Gallery 263. Residency Partnership Program Chamber Music America (CMA) offers support through its Residency Partnership Program for professional ensembles and presenters to build audiences for classical/contemporary, jazz, and world chamber music through residency projects. Funding is intended for activities that take place in community settings and that are not part of a regular concert series. Grant support of up to $6,000 is available; residencies must take place within a one-month period. Applicants must be Chamber Music America members at the Organization level at time of submission. Artist Residency The Plumbing Museum in partnership with J.C. Cannistraro invites one visual artist from the New England area to apply for a three month residency program. Selected artist will receive a non-living studio space, $2000 stipend, recycled fabrication materials, as well as access to welding equipment, plasma cutters, and a wood shop available upon request. The focus of the program is to support independent projects exploring the relationship between art and industrial technology. Learn more
