Call to Artists The exhibition A Call to Nature explores the concept of nature, how it is valued, and why people chose to collect from and document the outdoors. At Mass Audubon’s Habitat Education Center & Wildlife Sanctuary, this mini-exhibit mirrors 16th-century Curiosity Cabinets, where a rainbow assortment of specimens were displayed in ornate rooms for personal enjoyment and wonder. Submit 3-5 images of objects you’ve collected, framed photographs, or artworks with artist name, dimensions and material list to acalltonature@gmail.com. Artist Residency I-Park, dedicated to nurturing artists and the creative process, is currently accepting applications for the 2017 General Residency Program season. Female Idenitfied Artists The Providence Art Club invites female artists to submit their strongest two and three-dimensional work in any media to the Providence Art Club National Open Juried Exhibition Making Your Mark. This exhibition is the concluding event in a three-month long series celebrating the Art Club’s unique founding as the first such organization to be co-founded by men and women. In 1880 six women and ten men signed the founding documents of the Providence Art Club. One hundred and thirty six years later the Club proudly continues its mission to promote “art culture”. Annually, the Club hosts an open juried show to provide non-members with an opportunity to exhibit in our Maxwell Mays Gallery, which hosted its first Art Club exhibition in 1885. Making Your Mark will celebrate the achievements of contemporary female artists, thus honoring the women so integral to the founding of this unique organization. Thirteen (13) prizes totaling over $5,000 in awards. Best in Show prize of $1,500. Eligibility: Open to artists who identify as female working in the United States. The Cantabrigian is a literary magazine based in Cambridge, MA. It was founded to promote the works of emerging writers. Artist Residency The Emmanuel College Art Department offers an eight-week artists residency to four artists each summer. The residency supports a diverse group of artists, providing time and space for established and emerging artists to develop their work. Artists must not be currently enrolled in any academic program. Residency is from mid June to mid August 2015. Artists will receive a stipend of $1000 dollars and reimbursement for travel and visa up to an additional $1000. Learn more.

Call to Artists Registration is now open for artists to participate in the West Medford Open Studios (WMOS), an annual two-day arts festival located in West Medford, MA. Free events include food tastings, pottery throwing demonstrations, readings, and live music performances. GrubStreet Emerging Writer Fellowship GrubStreet, one of the leading creating writing centers in the nation, is offering the Emerging Writer Fellowship. The Fellowship aims to develop new, exciting voices by providing one writer per year tuition-free access to GrubStreet’s classes, as well as its Muse and the Marketplace conference on the craft and business of writing. Over the course of one year, the Emerging Writer Fellow will attend a combination of seminars and multi-week courses of their choosing, bookended by attendance at both the 2017 and the 2018 Muse and the Marketplace conference, in order to enhance their understanding of craft and the publishing industry. Creative Access: Residencies for Visual Artists & Writers with Spinal Cord Injury The Creative Access Fellowships Program – in partnership with the Alliance of Artists Communities – will expand to include 12 residency stays at four host sites: Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, VT), PLAYA (Summerlake, OR), Ragdale Foundation (Lake Forest, IL), and Santa Fe Art Institute (Santa Fe, NM), selected for their accessible facilities, innovative programming, and reputations for excellence. Creative Access offers artists with SCI the rare opportunity for concentrated time dedicated to their creative practice in a supportive residency community. Twelve awardees will receive the invaluable opportunity of a 2-8 week residency at one of the four host sites, including room and board, a $1000 stipend, and travel award for a personal assistant/caregiver if needed.
