We’re excited to announce that Massachusetts Cultural Council 2014 Artist Fellowship guidelines, dates, and deadlines are now available. The Artist Fellowships are unrestricted, anonymously judged, competitive grants for individual artists in recognition of artistic excellence (please note the Traditional Arts category is not anonymously judged and has additional criteria).
There are two deadlines per fiscal year, divided by discipline. Applications are now being accepted in Drawing, Poetry, and Traditional Arts. Deadline: Monday, October 7, 2013.
MCC will accept applications in Choreography, Fiction/Creative Nonfiction, and Painting beginning December 15, 2013. Deadline: Monday, January 27, 2014.
Changes this year:
- Pending approval by the MCC Board in late August, the fellowship award amount will be increased this year to $10,000 (from $7,500). The finalist award will remain at $500.
- Our visual arts disciplines (this cycle, Drawing and Painting) will now be accepted through the CallforEntry.org (CaFE) system. Read an ArtSake post on preparing your images for CaFE.
- The literary categories (this cycle, Fiction/Creative Nonfiction and Poetry) will now accept electronic submissions rather than mailed manuscripts.
Who should apply for an Artist Fellowship? Massachusetts artists creating original work who meet eligibility requirements (see guidelines) are encouraged to apply. Read our tips on applying for an MCC Artist Fellowship.
We know artists work in ways that are not always easily categorized. If you have any questions where your work might best fit in the program, don’t hesitate to contact us.
